Breast Cancer Now fundraising exceeds £3700

Secondary breast cancer ladies

All roads led to Lurgan’s Brownlow House last Saturday when Action Cancer’s annual Christmas Craft Fair was taking place. One of the stands was run by an amazing group of ladies with a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer who were raising funds for Breast Cancer Now. Over the last few months, they have been busy knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, making chutney and doing lots of other crafts

“This is the first time that we have done anything like this and it was definitely a challenge for us all,” explains Carol Dixon, one of the group members. “But we are absolutely delighted to have raised £3,762 for Breast Cancer Now and the total is still rising. We want to thank everyone who helped us on the day and in preparation for the day. Whether you knitted a tea cosy for us, carried in boxes from the car park or bought some of our craft items, we are extremely grateful to each and every one of you. Other people who couldn’t attend the craft fair on the day also made very generous donations on our Just Giving page.”

”We also had a prize draw thanks to the generosity of three local businesses,” continues Carol. “Irwins Bakery and Holmes Bakery from Portadown provided us with two beautiful hampers. The Nugelato Ice Cream Shop in Portadown also donated gift vouchers. We really appreciated their gifts and they helped us to raise even more money.”
